About

A studio built on patience

Good nails can't be rushed. That idea is the whole of Lacquer & Bloom.

Meet the founder

Hi, I'm Mwila

I fell in love with nails at 16, painting my cousins' nails before every family wedding. After training as a nail technician in Johannesburg, I came home to Lusaka with one wish: a studio where nobody feels rushed.

The name says what we do. Lacquer is the polish, the colour and the shine. Bloom is what happens to your natural nails when they're cared for properly: they grow strong and healthy underneath.

Since 2021 we've welcomed brides, students, busy mums and nurses on their day off. Every one of them gets the same careful hour.

The studio

Light, calm and made for you

Our Rhodes Park studio has four nail stations by big, bright windows, two pedicure chairs and a wall of more than 120 shades. There's always a pot of rooibos on, and the music is never too loud.

How we keep things clean

  1. Clean hands, every time

Your technician washes and sanitises before every client, and so do you when you arrive.

  2. Sterilised metal tools

Clippers, pushers and nippers are cleaned, then sterilised in an autoclave after each use.

  3. Fresh for you

Files, buffers and pedicure bowl liners are single-use, so they're never shared.

  4. Fresh air

Each station has its own dust extractor, and the studio is aired between appointments.
