A black-tie wedding website as elegant as the evening itself

Case study: Elijah & Mwaka

Two hearts met by chance

Elijah and Mwaka's love story began with a simple hello, and grew with every laugh, every adventure and every quiet moment shared. On 4 January 2026 they married at Tiffany's Canyon, with a church blessing at noon and a black-tie reception in the evening.

They wanted a website as smart and elegant as the day itself: moody studio portraits, a black-and-gold theme, and every detail their guests needed in one place.

The journey
01.

The challenge

A black-tie wedding with a black-and-gold theme, moody studio portraits, and everything on one page, from the love story and the day's timings to the venue, gifts, dress code and RSVP. The portraits were small files that looked soft when stretched across the screen.

02.

The approach

I kept their monochrome look and added the gold their theme promised, a gold ampersand, gold lines and gold details. The opening sits on the same charcoal as their studio backdrop, and every portrait is framed at a size where it stays sharp.

03.

The outcome

An elegant one-page website where a single menu jumps to each section, four clear cards answer every guest question, and the RSVP form stays on show, closed, once replies are in. The whole page weighs under half a megabyte, so it opens quickly on any phone.

Black tie, with a touch of gold

Their names in a classic serif with a gold ampersand, portraits on studio charcoal, thin gold lines and cards that lift gently as you hover. The closed RSVP form still shows its design, greyed out beside a charcoal-and-gold summary of the day.

The colour story

Black, charcoal and gold

The greys come straight from their studio photos, and a warm gold picks out the details, just as their black-and-gold theme asked.
