A calm nail studio, from first look to booked appointment
Concept projectCase study: Lacquer & Bloom
What a small business site can do
Lacquer & Bloom is a concept: a made-up nail studio in Rhodes Park, Lusaka. I built it to show what a small business website can do for a salon, the kind of business that usually runs on Instagram and WhatsApp alone.
The goal was a site that answers every question before it's asked, what they do, what it costs, what their work looks like and whether they're clean, and then makes booking take less than a minute.

The challenge
Many salons live on Instagram and WhatsApp. Customers scroll for photos, then message to ask the price, then message again to find a time. The salon owner answers the same questions all day, and booking systems come with a monthly fee.
The approach
I looked at what Lusaka salons actually offer and charge, from gel paint to polygel overlays and Gel-X, and wrote a clear menu with prices and times. Every Book button carries its treatment or day to the booking form, which only offers real opening times and writes the WhatsApp message for the customer.
The outcome
A five-page website with 13 treatments in five groups, a gallery of recent sets, the founder's story and four hygiene promises, and WhatsApp booking with no monthly fees. It works on any phone, even without JavaScript, with zero accessibility problems.

Cream, cocoa and a classic red polish
A calm, editorial look with big serif headings, photos in soft ovals and arches with a fine champagne line sweeping around them, and quiet line-drawn icons. Prices are easy to scan, and the Book button is always one tap away.

Rosewood and cocoa
Warm cream and blush feel like a calm studio, cocoa brown keeps the words easy to read, and a deep rosewood red, like a classic nail polish, marks every button and price.
